We know this season tells a story that doesn’t include everyone. For those estranged from biological family, for those whose identities aren’t welcome at certain tables, for those who’ve had to build their own traditions from scratch—we see you. Your chosen family is real family. Your quiet December day is just as valid as anyone’s celebration. Your decision to create your own meaning, or to find peace in no celebration at all, is yours to make.

To those gathering with found family over mismatched plates and improvised traditions—that’s the spirit of our community. To those working through the holidays because rent doesn’t pause for festivities, we honour your resilience. To those navigating difficult family dinners where you can’t be fully yourself, we’re holding space for your truth even when you can’t.

This season can amplify loneliness, especially when the world insists on “family togetherness” without acknowledging that family isn’t always safe or accepting. If you’re struggling, please know: you are part of something bigger. You belong to a community that exists twelve months a year, not just during Pride season.
