An Erlenmeyer flask is centered against a light grey background. A rainbow-colored liquid erupts from the top of the flask, splashing upward in vibrant streaks of purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red. The flask itself contains a yellow bubbling liquid at the neck and a light blue liquid at the base. Printed on the body of the flask is the text "LGBT+ History Month 2026." In the background, the words "LGBT+ HISTORY MONTH" are displayed in a large, faint grey watermark.

Innovation Through Resistance

This February, Capital Pride London joins the nation in celebrating LGBT+ History Month. The theme for 2026 is Science and Innovation, and for us, this is an opportunity to look at how our community has not only imagined a better world but built the tools to create it.

At Capital Pride London, our history is our heartbeat. Here is how this month’s theme connects to our core values:

🧬 Innovation as Radical Inclusion

Innovation isn’t just about lab coats; it’s about finding new ways to ensure Pride belongs to everyone. We honour the pioneers who used science to challenge the status quo and those today who are innovating to make our world more accessible, breaking down physical and economic barriers so every voice is centred.

✊ Honouring Our Roots

We remember that for many of our ancestors, “innovation” was a survival tactic. We celebrate the progress made in STEM while never forgetting that our presence in these spaces is an act of resistance. We unapologetically claim our space in the history of discovery, just as we do on the streets of London.

✨ Authenticity & Community

From the researchers to the grassroots activists, our history is rich because of the authentic lived experiences of those who dared to be themselves. We aren’t just celebrating “great minds”—we are fostering a community where everyone can show up as their full selves, knowing they are part of a long, vibrant legacy of creators and change-makers.

History is our blueprint. Inclusion is our future.
